Wendy's Twitter Activity
Wendy's twitter account has taken the internet by storm over the past year. I personally really enjoy how Wendy's has allowed their brand to take on its own almost human personality to interact with consumers, as well as, other brands like their competitors. Wendy's interactions on twitter include "twitter beef" with both everyday twitter users as well as other brands and celebrities that draws all kinds of attention to their twitter account. Not all of the interactions are bad thought, Wendy's went viral for giving a twitter user the opportunity for a lifetime of chicken nuggets if he got a certain amount of retweets. The way that Wendy's directly engages others on social media makes the brand more credible and eliminates the sort of distance that a more traditional brand's social media would create with its consumer. Most recently Wendy's dropped a dis track about Wing Shack and that really took this new kind of brand-consumer interaction to a whole new level. My only critique of what Wendy's is doing is for them to use this reputation that they have built of Twitter across their entire social media and potentially bring it in to ad campaigns. They have the potential to do very big things with what they have started.
